The Idlewild Heritage Trail presented here is a preview of an experience currently being developed in Idlewild. At the Black Footwear Forum, we are bringing a piece of that vision to Detroit, offering a glimpse of what it could feel like to explore Idlewild through the places, people, and stories that shaped its legacy.

The 20 stops featured here are a sampling of the larger Idlewild Heritage Trail. The first iteration of the trail will include 25 stops throughout Idlewild, with the potential to eventually grow to 100 or more sites across the historic designation as more of Idlewild’s history is documented, preserved, and shared.

What you see here is only the beginning.
